EAT

We have all heard “you are what you eat.” There is a lot of truth to that statement. Especially if you consider how many diseases, disorders, and health problems stem from GMO’s, alone. So, if you ingest chemicals on a regular basis, you are introducing foreign substances into your body, which tampers with and alters our systems’ functioning on many levels. No, you do not become a chemical because you ate chemicals, but in essence, your body becomes a product of foreign chemicals– becoming toxic.

Have you ever thought about eating directly affecting your life? Researchers have confirmed that an increase in processed foods increases the risk of various forms of cancer. And, we all know cancer can end your life. So, why do we continue in our unhealthy eating patterns? Aside from grave consequences, like dying from cancer, there are many other consequences of having poor nutrition, from metabolic syndrome to lethargy, which creates a cycle.

Instead of eating for fuel, the general population disregards the quality of food in which they choose to fuel their bodies. For instance, if you fill your diesel truck with unleaded fuel, it is not going to run: the same is true for human beings. We simply do not operate well, or at all, on a sugar-filled, simple carbohydrate diet (think potato chips, ice cream, and packaged treats). Sometimes it seems like sugary items are the majority of options at the grocery store and restaurants, which can make choosing healthy options that much more difficult.

So, you filled your truck with diesel, and now what? The diesel has to be removed from the tank in order for the vehicle to function properly. It doesn’t go away on its own. It has to be flushed out, the same way our bodies have to be cleansed of toxins. Our built-in detox mechanisms can only work so fast. We are simply not meant to consume the amount of processed foods that we do.

There are certain foods that are called “superfoods,” which are very high in antioxidant levels, which helps to detox the body and counteract toxicity. Essentially, superfoods make you feel good and look good, two things we all care about. There are many ways to integrate superfoods into your diet, and eventually, your body will stay in detox mode, as long as you continue your healthy diet. Some examples of superfoods are: blueberries, blackberries, chia seeds, kale, tea, broccoli, and walnuts. There are hundreds of superfoods.
